Car reported stolen is found on China

Vicksburg police recovered a car Monday night that had been reported stolen Sept. 21.
Police Lt. Bobby Stewart said a 1999 Chevrolet Lumina was found abandoned in the 1200 block of China Street at 11:49 p.m. with no one near it.
The car had been reported stolen from the 1200 block of Clay Street, he said.
Controlled substance lands city man in jail
A Vicksburg man was in the Warren County Jail today on a possession of a controlled substance charge, records showed.
Perry Lawrence Moore, 27, 1802 Court St., was being held without bond pending an initial court appearance.
Bookbag, cash reported missing
A bookbag and cash were reported stolen in Vicksburg Monday evening, police Lt. Bobby Stewart said.
A purple bookbag valued at $30 was reported missing from a vehicle in the 1200 block of First North Street at 5:30 p.m.
About $500 was reported stolen from a home in the 1900 block of Walnut Street at 5:45 p.m.
Break-in reported on Locust Street
Vicksburg police responded to a break-in at a home in the 400 block of Locust Street at 2:52 a.m. today.
Lt. Bobby Stewart said the suspect, identified by the victim as a tall black male wearing a red shirt under a black pullover, entered the home by kicking in a door.
“Nothing was taken after the resident woke up” and saw the suspect, Stewart said. “The suspect fled south on Locust Street.”
Arson suspected in Crawford fire
Vicksburg firefighters responded three times Monday to reports of fire at a vacant house, and Fire Inspector Leslie Decareaux said the case is being investigated as an arson.
The interior of the house at 1314 1/2 Crawford St., which is owned by Tracy Kent, address not given, “was fully involved” when firefighters arrived the first time, at 5:43 a.m., Decareaux said.
At 11:45 a.m., firefighters returned after a report of a piece of wood burning in the yard next to the building.
Decareaux said the wood reignited after the sun dried it during the morning.
At 2:52 p.m., they were dispatched again, this time for smoldering embers on the roof, she said. Decareaux didn’t say how long she expected the investigation to take.
Wreck on bridge ties up I-20 West
Traffic was backed up in the westbound lanes of Interstate 20 this morning due to a three-car wreck on the Mississippi River Bridge, said Vicksburg-Warren County 911 Director Michael Gaul.
The wreck was reported at about 10 a.m, said Gaul. An ambulance was sent to the scene, but as of 10:30 a.m., no injuries had been reported.
Traffic was at a standstill from the bridge to the Indiana Avenue exit, about 3 miles.
