Corlean Hughes

HERMANVILLE — Corlean Hughes died Wednesday, Sept. 30, 2009, at River Region Medical Center. She was 54.

Mrs. Hughes was a member, mother and usher at Jones Chapel Church. She was a member of Silver Star Chapter No. 34 Order of the Eastern Star, Evergreen Court No. 8 Heroines of Jericho, Election Commission, the Benevolent Society, Christian Aid and Baptist Aid. She was president of the Christian Home Mother’s Club and president of the youth choir at First Baptist of Hermanville.

Survivors include her husband, the Rev. Johnny Hughes of Hermanville; three sons, Adam Wells, Dwayne Hughes and Edwin Hughes, all of Hermanville; seven brothers, Robert L. Windmon, Eddie Wells, Earl Wells, John W. Wells, Donnell Wells, Edwin Wells and Devian Wells, all of Hermanville; three sisters, Allean Wells of Hermanville, Ethel Myles of Carlisle and Alice M. Flowers of Arizona; 17 grandchildren; and other relatives and friends, including Madie Tinsley and Leslie Jackson of Hermanville and Kesha Damper of Port Gibson.

Services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at First Baptist Church in Hermanville with the Rev. Kemp Burley officiating. Burial will follow at the Hermanville Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from 1 until 5 p.m. at Thompson Funeral Home in Port Gibson and Sunday at the church from 2 p.m. until the service. Family hour will be from 6 until 7 p.m. Saturday at Jones Chapel in Carlisle.
