PORT GIBSON — Ronald E. Odom died Sunday, Sept. 27, 2009, at his home in Port Gibson. He was 56.
He was preceded in death by his father, James Herbert Odom Sr.; one son, Audureleh F. Turnipseed; his maternal grandparents, Henderson and Katie M. Greene; and his paternal grandparents, John and Julia M. Odom.
Survivors include his parents, Roosevelt and Lenora Greene Odom Dotson, both of Port Gibson; a daughter, Chikuita LaJoyce Odom of Port Gibson; two stepdaughters, LaVonda Rankin and ShaRonda Rankin, both of Port Gibson; a stepson, ElMontra Rankin of Port Gibson; a sister, Julia Odom of Port Gibson; three stepsisters, Deborah Finley and Diane Black, both of Oklahoma City, and Brenda Dotson of Dallas; five brothers, Charles Odom of Vicksburg, James Odom and Etez Dotson, both of Port Gibson, Duane Odom of Jackson and David L. McGrew of Milwaukee; two stepbrothers, Roosevelt Dotson Jr. of Port Gibson and Eugene Dotson of Jackson; three grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; and other relatives and friends, including Jerry Phillips of New Orleans and Johnnie Smith Jr. and Diane Hendrick, both of Port Gibson.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Rising Sun M.B. Church in Port Gibson with the Rev. Larry Clark officiating. Burial will follow at Thompson Memorial Garden Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 until 6 at Thompson Funeral Home in Port Gibson and Saturday at the church from 10 a.m. until the service.
