It’s playoff time already for the state’s slow-pitch softball teams.
The playoffs get underway on Tuesday, with all three area MHSAA schools making it to the postseason. All will be best of three series.
Warren Central (6-17) endured its first losing season under coach Lucy Young, but still managed to win the Division 6-6A title in a two-team division and hosts Petal at Lucy Young Field starting at 4 p.m.
The winner of the series will face the victor of Northwest Rankin and the 8-6A runner-up on Saturday.
Vicksburg, the 6-6A runner-up, travels to Lucedale to battle George County at 6:30 p.m.
The winner of the series will face the winner of the Ocean Springs-Meridian series on Saturday.
St. Aloysius, the 7-1A runner-up, travels to 6-1A champion Noxapater at 2:30 p.m.
If the Lady Flashes win, they will play on Saturday against West Lincoln or the 5-1A champions.
The winners of these best of three series will play Saturday. The north and south state championship series are scheduled for Oct. 13 and the state championship is scheduled for Oct. 17 at the V.A. Fields in Jackson.
