The Vicksburg Main Street Program’s second annual Let’s Go Walkin’ Down Main Street is set for 9 a.m. Nov. 14 at Riverstage Plaza parking lot on Washington St.

One- and two-mile routes are available.

Genealogists to meet Tuesday

The Vicksburg Genealogical Society will meet at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Warren County-Vicksburg Public Library.

Jim Barnett of the Mississippi Department of Archives and History will speak. The topic will be the Natchez Indian confederacy.

Audubon sets field trip, meeting

• Birding and Botany field trip — 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday; led by Judy Shearer, birder and botanist; Rocky Springs, Natchez Trace Parkway; meet at Clinton Visitor Center on the Trace.

• Monthly meeting — 6:30 p.m. Oct. 27; Eudora Welty Library, 300 N. State St., Jackson; Skipper Anding, speaker, “A Fascination with Birds.”

Local service club sponsors story time

The Vicksburg Chapter of The Links will host The Links at the Library, an event set for Saturday at the Warren County-Vicksburg Public Library.

Mayor Paul Winfield will be the featured storyteller for the K-5 literacy program.

The event is free and will run from 11 a.m. to noon.

Children must be accompanied by a parent.

City native’s film to be shown at fest

A documentary film by Vicksburg native A.M. Peters will run for two days at the 2009 Hot Springs, Ark., Documentary Film Festival.

“NO Cross, NO Crown” details the recovery of music and culture in post-Hurricane Katrina New Orleans. The film will be shown at 9:15 p.m. Oct. 20 and 1:45 p.m. Oct. 21 at the festival site, 819 Central Ave.

Tickets are $20 for a one-day pass, $50 for a three-day pass or $150 for a full pass, which covers Friday-Oct. 25.
