Seasonal flu vaccines are now available at the Warren County Health Department and at all Mississippi State Department of Health county clinics.

Warren County coordinating nurse Dale Clark said Tuesday that everyone should be innoculated this year.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported that about 36,000 deaths nationwide are attributed to seasonal flu and pneumonia each year.

In Mississippi, more than 600 deaths were attributed to flu and pneumonia last year.

Those most at risk for the flu include young children, seniors, pregnant women and those with chronic illnesses.

Shots cost $25 for adults and $10 for children 18 and younger. Medicare and Medicaid recipients are asked to bring their cards with them to the clinic.

Anyone wanting a shot may go to the office, 807 Monroe St., from 8 to 11 a.m. or from 1 to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.

The H1N1 flu vaccines are not available yet, and Clark said a date has not been determined.

She said the seasonal flu shots will not protect individuals from the H1N1 virus. For more information, call 601-636-4356.
