The American Cancer Society and Riverwalk Casino Hotel collected and strung 5,988 bras during the second annual Bras for Breast Cancer campaign, which ended with a dedication ceremony on the Old U.S. 80 bridge Thursday morning.

The string of bras lined the railings of the bridge from the Mississippi boarder to the Louisiana border to honor those affected by the disease.

Riverwalk donated $1 to the American Cancer Society for every bra donated. The undergarments will be de-strung and donated to local thrift stores.
