The Vikings battled at the Class 6A state championship at Choctaw Trails in Clinton on Saturday. The girls finished 8th, led by Hannah Register’s 15th place finish with a time of 16:57. Sakita Shelton finished with a time of 17:52 as the next highest Lady Vike finisher. Walter King led the boys, who finished 18th in the overall standings, with a 28th-place finish. In the Class 1A meet, Cicily Chiarito finished 22nd and Anna Haygood was 33rd. In the boys race, the Flashes finished sixth out of 14 teams, with Blake Haygood finishing 27th and Morgan Stone finishing 29th.
