Bad memory will fade

I am writing in regard to the article pertaining to the possible removal of Alonzo Stevens as head coach at Vicksburg High School. I can’t believe people would stoop so low to have a petition going around.

In high school football, coaching staffs have to go with what they get, unlike college where players are recruited and the NFL where they are drafted. Also, in the last few years baseball has been king in Warren County, where historically football was the more prominent sport.

I am a graduate of VHS, and I would love for the Gators to win every game they play, but in every sport, there are up seasons and then there are down seasons. This is a down season.

I’m sure Coach Stevens wants to win just as badly as his players do, and I believe that he is just as frustrated as everyone else is. Maybe if the bad seasons had gone on for four years in a row, I could agree with some of these people. I think we should all get behind Coach Stevens and the football team and show them support and love, and I’m just willing to bet that in two or three years this one bad season will be a distant memory.
