John David Carmack died Sunday, Nov. 15, 2009, at River Region Medical Center. He was 81.

Mr. Carmack was a native of Akron, Ohio, and had made his home in Vicksburg for 45 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was retired from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers after 38 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Lois Jones Carmack; a brother; and a sister.

Survivors include a sister-in-law, Gloria Carmack; and nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Frank J. Fisher Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Green Acres Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 until 7 tonight at the funeral home.
