TANNEHILL, La. — Yvonne Ball 74, entered eternal rest on Tuesday, Nov. 17, 2009. She was born on April 29, 1935, in Holly Ridge, La., to the union of Bradley Talbert Coonce and Henrietta Higgs Coonce.

Mrs. Ball was an avid gardener. She also loved to work in her flower beds, where she grew the most beautiful day lilies and perennial Hibiscus. She would raise an abundance of vegetables and fruits to share with all her family each year. She delighted in making various kinds of jelly, and her specialty was May haw jelly. “Granny,” as she was affectionately known by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, was an excellent cook. Granny always let her grandchildren help her in the kitchen, where she would teach them her treasured family recipes. Yvonne raised chickens for enjoyment. She would let all her grandchildren choose a chicken and give it their very own special name.

Yvonne worked 13 years for TG&Y in Vicksburg and The Old Home Place for a number of years. She was an excellent seamstress and found great pleasure in making clothing, curtains and quilts. Yvonne also embroidered and crocheted.
