Suspicious activity at a local motel led to a drug possession charge for a Vicksburg man.

Artilious Burnett, 36, whose last known address is 1203 Second North St., was arrested at 6:03 p.m. Friday at the Relax Inn, 1313 Walnut St., after a period of surveillance noted numerous visitors to his room over several days, Vicksburg police investigator Jeff Merritt said.

After obtaining a search warrant, police found about 4 1/2 grams of crack cocaine in Burnett’s room, Merritt said. The drugs have a street value of $400 to $450, he said.

Burnett was not armed.

He was charged with possession of cocaine, and was in the Issaquena County Jail on $25,000 bond.
