EDWARDS — Robert James “Mr. Magic” Crowder died Wednesday, Nov. 18, 2009, at University Medical Center. He was 67.

Mr. Crowder was born in Edwards to Samuel and Beatrice Crowder. He attended Edwards Junior High, Southern Christian Institute and Hinds County Agricultural High School. He was employed by General Motors for 30 years.

A fisherman, he was a member of Eagles Motorcycle Club and had attended Mount Moriah M.B. Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Samuel Crowder Jr. and J.W. Crowder; and five sisters, Mozella Crowder, Minnie Lee Crowder, Rosetta Crowder, Willie Ruth Crowder and Beatrice Crowder.

Survivors include six children, Robert James Crowder Jr. and Cassandra Jones, both of Chattanooga, Tenn., and Tamara Crowder-Isom, Irving Crowder, Katrina Calhoun and Thomas Jerome Tucker, all of Flint, Mich.; one brother, Howard Crowder of Flint; four sisters, Carrie Baity and Gladys Anderson, both of Edwards, and Virginia Wright and Dorothy Smith, both of Jackson; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends, including Bettye Foster.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at United M.B. Church in Edwards. Visitation will be from 1 until 7 tonight at Lakeover Funeral Home, 1525 Beasley Road in Jackson, and Friday at the church from noon until the service.
