A Vicksburg teen was treated in the emergency room late Wednesday at River Region Medical Center and trasferred to University Medical Center after her car was involved in a two-vehicle wreck on Mission 66 near MacArthur Drive.

Erica Williams, 16, 503 Redbone Road, was injured when her Nissan Xterra collided with a 2009 Chevy Malibu in front of a business complex at 1905 Mission 66 at 12:45 p.m., Vicksburg police officer Kevin Rushing said.

River Region spokesman Diane Gawronski said Williams was treated in the emergency room.

A UMC spokesman was not available late Wednesday to comment on Williams’ condition.

Rushing said Williams was southbound before her vehicle crossed over into the northbound lanes and collided with the Malibu driven by Justin McKenzie, 24, 1811 MacArthur Drive. McKenzie was treated and released from River Region, Gawronski said.

The four-lane street was reduced to one lane for about 20 minutes during the cleanup.

No citations were given.

Vicksburg man jailed for meth precursors

A Vicksburg man was in the Warren County Jail Wednesday afternoon on drug-related charges.

George “Sonny” Alexander, 31, 3636 Redbone Road Lot 2, was arrested at 12:49 p.m. Wednesday at his home after Warren County deputies carried out a search of his home, Sheriff Martin Pace said.

Pace said his office had received information of drug activity at the home and a search warrant was issued on Wednesday.

He said deputies found precursor chemicals necessary to manufacture crystal methamphetamine but did not find an active cooking lab.

Alexander was charged with possession of two or more precursor chemicals and held without bond pending an initial court hearing, Pace said.
