Degrees

• Dr. Jami Adrianne Smith of Vicksburg has graduated with a Doctor of Health Education degree from A.T. Still University’s School of Health Management in Kirksville, Mo. The title of her dissertation was “Human Immunodeficiency Virus/Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (HIV/AIDS) Palliative Care by Critical Care Nurses.” She received a Master of Science in nursing degree from Regis University in Denver, Colo., and a Bachelor of Science in nursing degree from University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson. Dr. Smith has accepted a faculty position at West Texas A&M University in Canyon, Texas, and will be teaching undergraduate nursing students beginning in January. She is the daughter of James and Sherry Smith and the granddaughter of Dorothy M. Warren and the late Wilbert H. Smith and the late Emma L. Smith and John L. Smith, all of Vicksburg.

In brief

SCHF seeking youths for River Kids class

Registration has begun for the spring session of River Kids, the Southern Cultural Heritage Foundation’s free after-school art program.

Accepted will be 60 students in first through sixth grades for the class, which will begin Jan. 28. Sessions will be from 3:45 to 5 p.m. each Thursday.

Accredited educators Karen Biedenharn and Kathy Gibson will plan and teach each class.
