Local girls presented as state debutantes

Rachel Elizabeth Sassone, Sara Jean Turner and Natalie Lyons Waring, all of Vicksburg, were among 35 young ladies presented at the Debutante Club of Mississippi’s 2009 ball held Nov. 27 at the Hilton Hotel of Jackson.

Sassone is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Randolph Emmanuel Sassone. She is the granddaughter of Mrs. Francis Jasper Broussard and the late Mr. Broussard of New Orleans and Mr. and Mrs. Jack Emmanuel Sassone of Metairie, La.

She graduated with honors from St. Aloysius High School and is a sophomore at Mississippi State University, where she is majoring in art. She received the Paul A. and Mary Elzie Frederic Memorial Scholarship and the Entering Freshman Academic Excellence Scholarship. She is a member of Sigma Alpha Lambda leadership organization and Kappa Delta sorority. She served as president of her dormitory for the Residence Hall Association her freshman year.

Turner is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Michael Allen Turner. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Homer Allen Turner of Belzoni and Mrs. Joe Noe Jr. and the late Mr. Noe of Clarksdale.

She graduated with high honors from St. Aloysius High School and is a sophomore at Louisiana State University, where she is majoring in petroleum engineering. She is an LSU National Scholar and received the Tiger Scholarship and Chancellor’s Work Study Program. She is a member of Volunteer LSU and Delta Delta Delta sorority.

Waring is the daughter of Howard and Belynda Lyons Waring. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Sherwood Winston Lyons Sr. and Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Pierson Waring Jr. and the late Betty Jeanne Williams Waring, all of Vicksburg.

She is an honor graduate of St. Aloysius High School and is a sophomore at Mississippi State University, where she is majoring in business. She is a member of Sigma Alpha Lambda leadership organization, the National Society of Collegiate Scholars and Kappa Delta sorority. She volunteers for the Girl Scouts of America and Prevent Child Abuse of America.
