Barner B. Scott Sr.

ROLLING FORK — Barner B. Scott Sr. died Tuesday, Dec. 8, 2009, at Promise Hospital. He was 92.
Born in Chickasaw County, Mr. Scott moved to Mayersville in 1947 and to Rolling Fork after his retirement. He was a farmer/farm manager and was Beat 3 supervisor for Issaquena County. He was a charter member and deacon of the Mayersville Baptist Church. He was an honorary member of Whitening Bayou Hunting Club.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lonnie D. and Zona Dorrough Scott; his wife of 71 years, Ruby Webb Scott; two brothers, James Edward Scott and Lonnie Ray Scott; three sisters, Frances Woods, Eva Nell Tab and Euvis Tennyson; and a son, Barner Beverly Scott.
Survivors include two sons, Ralph Edward Scott of Saucier and Thomas Vollie Scott of Rolling Fork; a daughter, Barbara Brogden of Pineville, La.; two brothers, the Rev. Harold D. Scott of Meridian and the Rev. Vollie Scott of Seligman, Mo.; two sisters, Sue Williams of Jackson and Tommie Aden of Eupora; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church in Rolling Fork with the Rev. Millard L. Caulder officiating. Burial will follow at Mound Cemetery under the direction of Glenwood Funeral Home. Visitation will be from noon until the service at the church.
