The future is nuclear

President Obama used the “N” word during his weekly remarks June 27: “The energy bill will spur the development of low-carbon sources of energy — everything from wind, solar and geothermal power to safer nuclear energy and cleaner coal.”
Entergy is a world leader in the production of safe nuclear power. We must say yes to a new nuclear power plant! Entergy is recognized worldwide for the extremely safe manner it operates its nuclear power plants. The power from a new facility hopefully will be used by our state. Should it become necessary this energy could be exported. Another benefit of this facility is the potential for the production of water from a desalination plant if built near the coast.
Dr. C.T. Carley in a July 5 guest column stated: “The reactor is attached to a desalination unit wherein heat from the reactor forces water under high pressure through membranes in a process known as reverse osmosis that separates fresh water from salty seawater.” There is potential for this water to also be used in aquifer recharge. Mississippi does not need pole birds to spoil our beautiful state! We need nuclear power! Congress must be persuaded to help!
