A special breakfast

The 2009 Breakfast with Santa at the Vicksburg Convention Center provided hundreds of Vicksburg residents and visitors a quality holiday experience. A portion of the proceeds benefit the Ronald McDonald House, a “home away from home” for families in our area with seriously ill children who must travel for medical care.
I would like to thank our sponsors — McDonald’s, River Region Health System, Trustmark, BancorpSouth, Neel-Schaffer, Tyson Foods, Falco Lime and Walmart. This event would not be possible without their generosity.
We were very fortunate to have many volunteer students from Porters Chapel Academy, Vicksburg High and Junior High and Warren Central High and Junior High, who did everything from taking up tickets and clearing tables to assisting the children with cookie decorating and arts and crafts in Santa’s Village. We couldn’t have done it without them!
I would also like to thank Dan Cook for helping with the ticket raffle and Johnny Reynolds and Ms. Drake for all their help. Many thanks to Bowmar Baptist Church for lending puppets for the puppet show and Janis Koestler and the Hester Flowers Garden Club for decorating wreaths that were sold in the marketplace. A very special thanks to Gary Haygood who volunteered to take all of the pictures with Santa. He did such a great job!
And last but certainly not least, I want to thank Santa and Mrs. Claus for coming to Vicksburg during their busiest time of the year. They provided lots of joy to all the boys and girls who attended.
