Smoke damages home on Kendra
Heavy smoke from a kitchen fire forced a Vicksburg woman from her home Tuesday.
Flames ignited on the stove when Lola Webster, 118 Kendra Drive, stepped away from her kitchen while she was cooking at about 2:42 a.m., Vicksburg Deputy Fire Chief Mark Hales said.
“I would say the house was uninhabitable from the smoke damage,” said Hales, adding stove fires that are not caused by grease generally produce a lot of smoke due to the low heat and slow burn.
The blaze was contained to the kitchen.
Webster was not reported injured.
