City native promoted to chief job in MDEQ

A Vicksburg native has been named to a chief position with the Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality.
Joseph Curro, a 15-year veteran at MDEQ, was promoted to chief of the Underground Storage Tank Technical Branch No. 2 in pollution control.
Curro had been a project manager in the Air Division’s Air Toxics Branch for three years. He was a project manager in the UST Branch for 12 years.
Curro is a board-certified environmental engineer and a registered professional engineer.
He was a St. Aloysius High School graduate and continued his education at Hinds Community College, where he received an associate degree in 1990. He received a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from Mississippi State University in 1993 and a master’s in environmental engineering from Jackson State in 2008.
Curro is the son of Myrtle Alvarado and the late Joseph R. Curro Jr.
