Six-year-old twin girls injured in a four-wheeler wreck that killed a Vicksburg teen on Wednesday are “rallying on up,” their grandmother said this morning.

Judy Tom of Vicksburg said the children, Kimberly “Klausen” Madison and Kaylee “Karlisle” Madison, are in side-by-side rooms at Blair E. Batson Children’s Hospital at Univerisity Medical Center in Jackson, where both were taken Wednesday after the wreck on rural Campbell Swamp Road.

Tom said Karlisle suffered breaks in the pelvic area and was this morning awaiting a visit from a physical therapist. Klausen, who was moved out of the Intensive Care Unit during the weekend, was responding well to treatment, Tom said.

The girls, both students at Bowmar Elementary Magnet School, are the daughters of Selena Madison and Chris Madison, both of Vicksburg.

The girls were on a four-wheeler with Caitlin R. Lopez, the 15-year-old daughter of Johnny and Rose “Bodie” Lopez, when the all-terrain vehicle hit a fence and flipped before hitting a tree. Caitlin was pronounced dead about an hour after the wreck.

The Madison family is issuing statements about and condition reports on the girls online.
