County man arrested for sexual battery on child

A Vicksburg man was in the Warren County Jail this morning on a charge of sexual battery on a child.

Barry Gene Stocks, 56, no street address available, was arrested at 3:35 p.m. Thursday at a home where he was staying after an investigation by Warren County deputies, Sheriff Martin Pace said.

Pace said Stocks was charged with sexual battery of a child younger than 14 after his office received a complaint filed by the victim’s family member an hour before his arrest.

Stocks was held without bond.

Car reported stolen found on Thornhill

A vehicle that was reported missing in the county Thursday was recovered this morning.

A green 1997 Ford Explorer was reported missing at 3:55 p.m. in the 100 block of Thornhill Drive off U.S. 80, and was later recovered by the owner in the same block at 8:30 this morning.

Separately, two auto burglaries were reported in the city and county Thursday.

A brown wallet valued at $30 and its contents were reported missing at 7:15 p.m. from a 2000 Kia Sportage in the 2800 block of Clay Street.

A North American Arms 22-caliber revolver valued at $250 was reported missing at 1:23 p.m. from a personal vehicle in the 2300 block of Culkin Road.

TVs, electronic games missing in city thefts

Two residential burglaries were reported in the city Thursday, Vicksburg police Lt. Bobby Stewart said.

A Toshiba 40-inch TV valued at $1,000 was reported missing at 9:09 a.m. from a home in the 2400 block of Pearl Street.

An RCA 19-inch flat-screen TV valued at $300, an Xbox 360 game console valued at $300, six Xbox games valued at $240 and a Sony PlayStation 2 game console valued at $200 were reported missing at 2 p.m. from a home in the 1100 block of Polk Street.
