SUV, car reported missing in city

Two vehicles were reported missing in Vicksburg Tuesday morning, Vicksburg police Lt. Bobby Stewart said.

At 7:38 a.m., a white 2007 GMC Yukon with a Jackson State University tag 1196J and valued at $16,000 was reported stolen from the 700 block of First East Street.

About four hours later, a silver 1993 Lexus LS with a Mississippi tag WAK680 was reported stolen from the 2100 block of South Frontage Road.

Cash, electronics hot in house burglaries

Electronics and cash were among items reported stolen Tuesday and this morning in Vicksburg, police Lt. Bobby Stewart said.

About $300 and a watch valued at $100 were reported stolen from a home in the 1000 block of Buck Street at 3:30 this morning.

A Wii game console valued at $200 and about $20 in change were reported stolen from a home in the 3300 block of Commons Circle at 10:17 a.m. Tuesday.

About $100 was reported stolen from a home in the 200 block of Belva Drive at 11:05 a.m. Tuesday.

A PlayStation 2 valued at $200 and a 26-inch, flat-screen TV valued at $300 were reported stolen from a home in the 100 block of Alfred Drive at 4:35 p.m. Tuesday.

Louisiana woman held for failure to register

A Louisiana woman was in the Warren County Jail today for failure to register as a sex offender, records showed.

East Baton Rouge Parish marshals arrested Michelle Chenier, 55, of Baton Rouge, on a Warren County warrant, Sheriff Martin Pace said.

She is accused of living in Vicksburg without registering, he said.

Chenier was being held without bond pending an initial court appearance.

No Vicksburg address was available.

RRMC worker nabbed for embezzlement

A River Region Medical Center employee was  released from the Warren County Jail Tuesday after being arrested for embezzlement earlier in the day.

Stephanie Brooks, 38, 415 Haas St., was booked in at 4:46 p.m. and released on a $10,000 bond. Sheriff Martin Pace said the arrest followed an audit that showed a discrepancy.
