Patrick Kelly was a Vicksburg native and famous fashion designer.
He graduated from Vicksburg High in 1972, attended Jackson State University for a year, then moved to Atlanta and New York City to pursue a career in fashion.
After limited success in both cities, he moved to Paris. While working there, he was the first American to be admitted to Chambre Syndicale du Prêt-à-Porter, the elite French industry organization. He developed his own label — Patrick Kelly — and was given the opportunity to show his collection at the Louvre Museum.
Kelly was the son of Letha Kelly of Vicksburg and the late Danny S. Kelly, and the grandson of the late Ethel B. Rainey. He died Jan. 1, 1990, at 35 years old.
