Mrs. Evelyn Carr “Billie” Wright died Thursday at her home. She was 94.
A native of Millington, Tenn., she had made her home in Vicksburg most of her life and was a member of the Church of Christ.
Mrs. Wright was the first crossing guard in the city of Vicksburg and the longest serving. She also worked at the city pool, Berry’s Department Store and Koury’s for many years.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers; two sisters; and her husband, Ernest Wright.
She is survived by a daughter, Barbara Foster; two sons, Ray Wright and wife Mary Jo of Vicksburg and Ronnie Wright and wife Angie of Fairport, Ala.; five grandchildren, Randy Curtis, Angela Lovins, Vincent Wright, Melinda Franklin and Brooke Steed; and seven great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Frank J. Fisher Funeral Home with the Rev. Dwight Sibley officiating. Burial will follow at Green Acres Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. Saturday until the hour of the service at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Buddy Holliday, Walter Halberg Jr., Ford Emery, Vincent Wright, Sam Franklin, Randy Curtis, Chance Curtis and Billy Jeffers.
Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. William Wooten, Paul Barrett, Felisa Brisco, Carl Riepl, James Rone, Quentin Lovins and the staffs of Promise Hospice and Medisys.
