PORT GIBSON — Wilma Jean Harris died Saturday, Jan. 16, 2010, at the Claiborne County Nursing Center. She was 78.

Mrs. Harris was born in Orange County, Ind., to the late Robert Buerckley and Florence Bird Buerckley. A former resident of Rolling Fork and Lehigh Acres, Fla., she had been a resident of Claiborne County since 2000. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and the Baptist faith.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William Vernon Harris; two brothers, Cecil Buerckley and Melvin Buerckley; and a sister, Eloise Link.

She is survived by three daughters, Deana Flanagan of Port Gibson and Kathy Loomis and Linda Harris, both of North Bennington, Vt.; one sister, Mildred Trinkle of Paoli, Ind.; and three grandchildren.

Private services will be held under the direction of Riles Funeral Home.
