Man jailed in Hamilton Heights shooting

A Vicksburg man was charged with shooting into a motor vehicle and attempted aggravated assault Tuesday.

At 10:18 a.m., Vicksburg patrolmen arrested Timothy Jamal McKnight, 19, at his 420 Elmwood St. home for the shooting on Thursday near Brookley and Spring Ridge drives in Hamilton Heights subdivision, police Lt. Bobby Stewart said.

At the time of the arrest, officials recovered a handgun believed to have been used in the shooting, Stewart said. He added the weapon was reported stolen in Warren County on Dec. 15.

No injuries were reported.

McKnight was being held without bond at the Warren County Jail.

Jewelry, cash, tires missing in burglaries

Jewelry, cash and tires were reported missing in two burglaries in Vicksburg Tuesday, police Lt. Bobby Stewart said.

A gold rope necklace valued at $700, a gold bracelet valued at $400 and $660 in cash were reported stolen from a home in the 600 block of Dabney Avenue at 1:27 p.m.

Four 18-inch chrome rims and tires with a total value of $2,000 were reported stolen from a shed in the 1900 block of Baldwin Ferry Road at 4:43 p.m.
