Jane Noble Brown

Jane Noble Brown died Monday, Jan. 25, 2010, at Promise Hospital of Vicksburg. She was 71.

Mrs. Brown was a lifelong resident of Vicksburg. She was a 1957 graduate of Carr Central High School and attended Hinds Junior College, where she was a High Stepper. She was employed by the Mississippi State College of Engineering and was formerly employed at Waterways Experiment Station, where she worked for more than 30 years.

Mrs. Brown was a member of the Steel Magnolias and River Region Auxiliary and was secretary of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald Brown; and her parents, Melvin and Thelma Josephine Goza Noble.

Survivors include one daughter, Rebecca Brown Columbus (Michael) of Vicksburg; a sister, Susie Noble Shaw of Martinsburg, Va.; and two grandsons, Spencer Columbus and Everett Columbus of Vicksburg.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Glenwood Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Cary Stockett officiating. Burial will follow at Green Acres Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 5 until 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Dr. Albert Bush, Dr. William Marcuson, Dr. Monty Pearson, Roy W. Pigg, Richard Thomas and Stephen Thomas.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or River Region Auxiliary.
