No matter, both are winners on the road and both will host second-round matches on Saturday.

St. Aloysius got first-half goals from Riley Griffith and Madison Lumbley as the Lady Flashes earned their first playoff win in school history, 2-0, over Corinth.

Tori Hines earned a shutout in-goal for St. Al.

The Lady Flashes (7-2-1) will make more history, as they host Winona, a 2-1 winner of Choctaw Central, in a second-round match at Balzli Field on Saturday at 2 p.m.

As for the Missy Gators, they went the epic route in their first-round match.

Vicksburg needed two saves by senior keeper Kelli Brewer and penalty kicks by Kathy Allen and Tabitha Hayden to take a 1-0 victory over DeSoto Central.

The game went to a pair of 10-minute overtimes and then a pair of five-minute extra sessions before having to decide the match via penalty kicks.

“It was a great game,” first-year Vicksburg coach David Case said. “We really worked hard.”

The Missy Gators will host Tupelo, a 6-0 winner over Northwest Rankin, in the second round of the playoffs on Saturday at 1 p.m.
