Two North Carolina brothers injured in the deadly explosion at International Paper in May 2008 have agreed to settle their lawsuit with the company.

David and Darren Clark, of Mooresville, N.C., struck a deal in a joint motion with IP filed in U.S. District Court in Jackson. Terms were not disclosed.

The Clarks were among 17 hurt when a recovery boiler exploded at the Redwood plant. A Vicksburg man was killed and plant functions ceased for six months.

The proposed settlement would release from liability their employer, Cummings, Ga.-based RMR Mechanical Inc., and Zurich American Insurance Co., a subsidiary of Swiss insurance giant Zurich Financial Services.

Settlements were reached last fall on four other suits involving five others injured during the blast. All were also contract employees.
