Mary Catherine Katzenmeyer

Mary Catherine Katzenmeyer died Sunday, Jan. 31, 2010, at River Region Medical Center. She was 91.

Born in Vicksburg, she was the daughter of the late Dave Branciere and Katie Foley Branciere. Mrs. Katzenmeyer was a graduate of St. Francis Xavier Academy in the Class of 1937. She was a retired hairdresser and was a member of the ParkView Medical Center Auxiliary, where she served as a hairdresser for many of the patients.

Mrs. Katzenmeyer was active in community services and was devoted to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren who affectionately called her “Poppaw.” She was a communicant of St. Paul Catholic Church and a member of the Sodality of the Blessed Virgin Mary and the St. Paul Altar Society.

She is survived by three daughters, Carol Jean Fuller (Clay) of Cape Coral, Fla., Mary Jo Nelson of Vicksburg and Karen Curran (Billy) of Cape Coral; son, Bill Katzenmeyer (Delores) of Denham Springs, La.; 13 grandchildren, Blair F. Staas, Mark Foster, Allison Bresser, Dr. Kevin Katzenmeyer, Jay Katzenmeyer, Kyle Katzenmeyer, Wes Katzenmeyer, Ryan Nelson, Riley Nelson, Rae Nelson, Russ Nelson, Blake Curran and Katie Curran; 12 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Katie Foley Branciere; two sons-in-law, Bud Foster and Roy Nelson; and other relatives, including Al Schneider.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Paul Catholic Church with Monsignor Patrick Farrell, pastor, as celebrant. Burial will be at Cedar Hill Cemetery under the direction of Riles Funeral Home. Visitation will be at St. Paul Catholic Church from 9:30 a.m. Wednesday until the hour of the service.

Pallbearers will be grandsons of Mrs. Katzenmeyer.
