Wright to help run ERDC initiative

Dr. Peggy Brasfield Wright will help lead the U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center’s Human Capital Initiative.

Wright will serve as assistant director of the initiative, expected to be fully operational by 2012. She will assist ERDC Director Dr. Jeff Holland in daily operations.

Wright, a 25-year veteran of the Corps, was the first director of the Corps’ Enterprise Information Techonology Services, helping provide IT support to more than 40,000 employees in more than 100 countries. She was also the leader of the USACE Information Management/Information Technology Most Efficient Organization Team and was the program manager for the Corps Enterprise Infrastructure Services program.

Wright began her career as a co-op student in 1985, and received a bachelor’s degree in computer science from Mississippi College one year later. She has a master’s and a doctorate in computer science from Mississippi State University, where she serves as adjunct professor.

She is a member of the Armed Forces Communication and Electronics Association and a lifetime member of Phi Kappa Phi. Her past awards include the Meritorious Civilian Service Award, Superior Civilian Service Award and numerous Commander Awards. She received the Vogel Award for the Scientist of the Year.
