Rev. Cecil B. Jones

HATTIESBURG — The Rev. Cecil B. Jones died Thursday, Feb. 4, 2010, at Wesley Medical Center. He was 75.

Rev. Jones was born and raised in Vicksburg where he was district superintendent of the Vicksburg Methodist Church in the Vicksburg District for a number of years. He was a retired minister with the Mississippi Conference of the United Methodist Church and presently serving as Visitation Minister and Coordinator of Older Adult Ministries at Main Street United Methodist Church, where he was a member.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Catherine and Ackland Jones; and a brother, Donald A. Jones.

Survivors include his wife, Jewell M. Jones of Hattiesburg; a son, Cecil B. Jones Jr. of Crystal Springs; a daughter, Catherine Lee Ale of Round Brook, N.J.; and four grandchildren.

Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Main Street Untied Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery. Visitation will be tonight from 5 until 7 at Hulett-Winstead Funeral Home in Hattiesburg and from 10 a.m. until the service at the church Wednesday.
