Rowan Gaines Sr.

LIMA, Ohio — Rowan Gaines Sr. died Tuesday, Feb. 2, 2010, at his home. He was 75.

Mr. Gaines was born in Lorman, Miss. He was retired from Ford Motor Company and was a U.S. Army veteran and a member of New Life Christian Ministries. He owned and operated the Fourth Street Kitchen.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Lucille Foster Gaines; his wife, Berotha Lincoln Gaines; three sons, Rowan Gaines Jr., James E. Gaines and Harvey Gaines; a daughter, Yolanda McDonald; three sisters, Lenora McCray, Juanita Peters and Johnnie L. Gaines; and three brothers, Rudolph Gaines, Randolph Gaines and Booker T. Gaines.

Survivors include his wife, Angela Nace Gaines of Lima; a stepdaughter, Latoyria Williams of Lima; five sisters, Hattie Walton of Fayette, Evelyn Graham and Viola Scott, both of Vicksburg, Mae Etta Penn of Richmond, Calif., and Dorothy Anderson-Spencer of Atchison, Kan.; and three grandchildren.

Services were Tuesday at New Life Christian Ministries with Elder Edward L. Tibbs officiating. Burial followed at Woodlawn Cemetery in Lima.
