PATTISON — James Nicholas died Friday, Feb. 5, 2010, at his home in Pattison. He was 56.

Mr. Nicholas is survived by three sons, Derrick Wilson, Frank Washington and Elton Washington, all of Pattison; two daughters, Capetrice Polk of Port Gibson and Chekeita Bell of Southaven; his mother, Ruby Barnes of Pattison; his father, Ike Shorter of Buffalo, N.Y.; his maternal grandmother, Louisa Nicholas of Pattison; four brothers, Dannie Barnes, Arthur Barnes, Johnnie Barnes and Melvin A. Barnes, all of Pattison; one sister, Hazel Turner of Pattison; 10 grandchildren; and aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, including Frances Washington of Pattison and Shirley A. Hedrick of Southaven.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Providence Baptist Church in Tillman with the Rev. Freddie Harris officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 until 6 p.m. Friday at Thompson Funeral Home in Port Gibson and Saturday at the church from noon until the service.
