PORT GIBSON — Arthur McGowan died Monday, Feb. 15, 2010, in Port Gibson. He was 58.

Mr. McGowan was preceded in death by his parents, Burnell and Bernice McGowan; two brothers, Aaron Barnes and Richard Barnes; and one sister, Emma Lee Alexander.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy McGowan of Port Gibson; three daughters, Shirley McGowan and Pamela Buie, both of Port Gibson, and Georgette Trevillion-Dee of Vicksburg; three brothers, Burnell McGowan Jr., Frank McGowan and Freddie McGowan, all of Port Gibson; two sisters, Bertha Stewart of Peoria, Ill., and Beseemah Abdullah of Champaign, Ill.; four grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, including Charles Buie, Bo Brown, Wilbert Jennings and Chuck Sewell, all of Port Gibson.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Campbell Chapel Church in Port Gibson with the Rev. Carl Devine officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Zion Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 until 6 p.m. Saturday at Thompson Funeral Home in Port Gibson and Sunday at the church from 1 p.m. until the service.
