Clifton Leo “Junior” Thornell Jr. died Tuesday, Feb. 16, 2010. He was 61.

He was a native and lifelong resident of Vicksburg. He was the son of Leo and Lillie Mae Abraham Thornell. He ran the family business Thornell’s Garage for a number of years and was employed at Cooper Lighting for the last 15 years. He was a U.S. Army veteran and served in the Army Reserve until 1986. He loved to hunt and fish and spend time with his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Lillian T. Chaney.

He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Jordan Thornell of Vicksburg; one daughter, Kelly Annette T. Hunt and husband Keith of Carlisle, Miss.; one son, Chris Thornell and wife Lisa of Vicksburg; grandchildren, Brandon Hunt, Kadi Hunt, Leiana Thornell, Holly Thornell and Colton Thornell; three sisters, Rosemary T. Terry and husband James H. of Madison, Ala., Nancy T. Brown and husband J.R. of Bay Springs and Carole T. Walker and husband Chuck of Katie, Texas; two brothers, Robert William “Bobby” Thornell and wife Amelia and James Richard “Dickie” Thornell and wife Annette of Bossier City; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Frank J. Fisher Funeral Home with the Rev. Greg Clemts officiating. Visitation will be Thursday from 5 until 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Honorary pallbearers will be James H. Terry, J.R. Brown, Billy Thornell, Travis Thornell, Randald Jordan, Charles Jordan, James Palmer, Harold Davis and Chuck Walker.
