Former Vicksburg restaurant operator Charles Borrello died this morning in a one-car wreck on Mississippi 53 in Pearl River County, officials said.

A Pearl River County Sheriff’s Department spokesman said Borrello, who was believed to be traveling to his home in Hattiesburg from the Coast, was alone when the wreck occurred at 1:11.

Pearl River Coroner Derek Turnage said Borrello had just left work when his car left the road, flipped several times and ejected him. Turnage said death was immediate.

Borrello and his wife, Holly, had lived in Vicksburg and operated Borrello’s Restaurant at 1306 Washington St., for seven years until moving last year.

The New Orleans native had moved here from Biloxi in 1998 to manage Farradday’s Steakhouse at the Isle of Capri.

A spokesman for Silver Slipper Casino in Diamondhead said Borrello was employed there for the past three months, as a supervisor of the Pier House restaurant.
