ERDC researcher advances position

A researcher in the Environmental Laboratory at the U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center has been named to a senior position.

Dr. Jeffery Steevens is now a biotechnology senior research scientist.

He joined ERDC in 1999 as a research toxicologist on the Ecotoxicology and Environmental Risk Assessment Team, which he has led since 2003. Before joining ERDC, he worked as a field and laboratory technician for the University of Missouri and the U.S. Geological Survey. He has led research teams and authored and co-authored more than 50 publications and book chapters.

A Columbia, Mo., native, Steevens has a bachelor’s in biochemistry from the University of Missouri, with a minor in geology through the University of Wyoming. He has a doctorate in pharmacology and toxicology from the University of Mississippi School of Pharmacy.

Steevens is an adjunct professor with the University of Missouri and University of Mississippi. He and his wife, Emmy, have two children, Ren and Sarah.
