Charleston James Winston

WINTER PARK, Fla. — Charleston James Winston of Winter Park, Fla., died Sunday, Feb. 21, 2010. He was 54.

Mr. Winston was born in Vicksburg to James and Clora Winston. He was a former member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church and attended Clover Valley M.B. Church. He joined the Army and served in Korea.

He was serving in the Florida National Guard as a casualty assistance officer and in the JAG office. He was also a legal analyst for the Florida Public Service Commission.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Winston was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Florence Dotson of California.

Survivors include his wife of 33 years, Sherry Kerns Winston; four sons, Milton Clark and Coleton Winston, both of Winter Park, Chandlerton Winston of Winter Haven, Fla., and Charlton Winston of Deltona, Fla.; two brothers, Douglas Lee Winston of Virginia and Nathan Shed Winston of Louisiana; one sister, Sarah LaRue Williams of Mississippi; and 11 grandchildren.
