Child, 10, accused in theft from home

A 10-year-old was released to his parents after being accused of going into an unlocked house Wednesday and stealing a video game system valued at $300.

A witness in the 300 block of Bayou Boulevard reported seeing the child near the house.

The theft was reported at 5:04 p.m., and the child and the game were found about 30 minutes later at the child’s home in the 100 block of Delta Dawn Circle, Lt. Bobby Stewart of the Vicksburg Police Department said.

The game was returned to its owner. The child was released to his parents “in need of supervision,” Stewart said.

No charges were filed because the child is younger than 12, he said.

Drug suspect nabbed at motel in city

A Vicksburg man was arrested Wednesday at a North Frontage Road motel on a warrant for the sale of crack cocaine.

Alonzo Anthony Adams, 32, 5319 Mississippi 27, was charged at 7:28 p.m. after officials received complaints of drug activity, Vicksburg police Lt. Bobby Stewart said.

Police recovered a small amount of marijuana and seized $465, Stewart said.

Adams was being held on $2,500 bond at the Issaquena County Jail.

County man held for domestic violence

A Vicksburg man was in the Warren County Jail today for a third offense of domestic violence, records showed.

Akerius Bell Jones, 22, 474 China Grove Road, was arrested at his home at about 3:50 p.m., Warren County Sheriff Martin Pace said.

Jones was being held without bond pending an initial appearance in court.

The victims, a woman and a child, received minor injuries but did not require medical attention, Pace said.

Gun, camera taken from Drummond car

A weapon and a camera were missing from a car in the 3300 block of Drummond Street Wednesday, Vicksburg police Lt. Bobby Stewart said.

At 7:33 a.m., a Remington .270 rifle valued at $400 and a Canon E-50 digital camera valued at $2,000 were reported stolen from a 2006 Honda Accord.
