Marvin Fitzgerald Hunter, a 1989 graduate of Vicksburg High School, has retired from the U.S. Navy. He joined in 1990 and attended the Navy’s Hull Maintenance Tech “A” School for welding in Philadelphia, Pa., before serving the following tours: shore duty at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii; as subtender aboard both the USS Dixon in San Diego and USS Frank Cable in Guam, with the Gulfport Naval Mobile Construction Battalion One; and shore duty at the Naval Weapon Station in Charleston, S.C.
He has been awarded several Navy Marine Corps Achievement medals, an Army Achievement medal and six Good Conduct medals. While attached to the Navy Seabees, he served with Army Task force 2-6 Infantry & Catamount in support of Operation Joint Guard in Bosnia-Herzegovina. He is surface-warfare qualified and has earned degrees in welding technology and marine engineering, along with several certifications.
He is the son of Bulah Hunter and Henry Hunter of Vicksburg and has one son.
Air National Guard Airman 1st Class Clarence R. Robinson has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. The airman completed an eight-week program that included training in military discipline, core values, physical fitness and warfare principles. By completing basic training, he earned four credits toward an Associate in Applied Science degree through the Community College of the Air Force. A 1999 graduate of Port Gibson High School, he is the son of Jacqueline Robinson of Port Gibson.
