Peacemaker fair in hospital after shooting

A Vicksburg man who was shot multiple times after trying to break up a fight Tuesday night was in fair condition today at River Region Medical Center, a hospital spokesman said.

Gromyko Magee, 26, 630 Rawston St., was shot multiple times at about 8 p.m. after trying to stop an argument on Red Hawk Road, Warren County Sheriff Martin Pace said. He said he did not know how many times Magee was shot.

“We have identified the suspect and expect an arrest,” said Pace. He did not release the suspect’s name.

No other injuries were reported.

City man charged with statutory rape

A Vicksburg man was released from the Warren County Jail on $15,000 bond on a charge of statutory rape.

Adrian Sanders, 45, 120 Hawkins St., surrendered to police at 9:05 a.m. Tuesday after a complaint was filed against him over a Dec. 10 encounter with a child younger than 16, Vicksburg police Sgt. Sandra Williams said.

Clinton woman held for grand larceny

A Clinton woman was in the Warren County Jail today charged with grand larceny, records showed.

Joyce Lenoir, 23, 204 Church St., is accused of taking more than $4,000 from a home in the 200 block of Sammy Young Road Monday, Warren County Sheriff Martin Pace said.

She was stopped by deputies and arrested at 12:45 p.m. Tuesday on U.S. 61 North near Interstate 20 after a warrant was issued, Pace said.

Lenoir was being held without bond pending an initial appearance in court.

Computers missing in county burglary

Two computers were reported missing in a residential burglary in Warren County, records showed.

A Hewlett-Packard laptop computer valued at $300 and a Compaq laptop computer valued at $300 were reported stolen in the 100 block of Boykin Drive at 6:31 p.m. Tuesday.
