Elizabeth Straughter Horne

SEASIDE, Calif. — Elizabeth Straughter Horne died Monday, March 8, 2010, in Sacramento, Calif. She was 75.

Mrs. Horne was born in Vicksburg and was a graduate of Bowman High School and Southern Business College. She was a member of Fort Ord Chapel in Seaside, Calif.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Dave and Susie Miller Straughter; three sisters, Rosie Lee Kemper, Natalie Kemper and Hannah Mae Spencer.

Survivors include her husband of 52 years, Charles Leon Horne; two daughters, Dr. Michele Elizabeth Horne of Baton Rouge and Pamela Jeanne Cooper of Elk Grove, Calif; a son, Michael Van Horne of Sacramento; a stepdaughter, Carolyn Bradford of Vicksburg; a stepson, Carl Leon Horne of Vicksburg; a sister, Maggie S. Beacham of Las Vegas; two grandchildren; and other relatives and friends including the Miller family of Vicksburg.

Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Fort Ord Chapel. Burial will follow at Mission Memorial Park in Seaside. Visitation will be tonight from 4 until 8 at Mission Memorial Mortuary.
