Warren Central defensive coordinator Josh Morgan on Thursday was promoted to head coach during a meeting of the Vicksburg Warren School District Board of Trustees. He will succeed Curtis Brewer, who retired after six years with a 36-32 record as head coach. Morgan was approved by a vote of 3-2.
Morgan, the son of former head coach and current assistant Robert Morgan, played safety and quarterback for the Vikings before moving on to Mississippi State’s football team as a safety from 1999-2002.
He will become the fourth head coach at the school since 1971. Lum Wright Sr., Robert Morgan and Brewer were the only other head coaches since 1971.
