Miss Burnett to marry Ivey at Crawford Street

The engagement of Leah Katherine Burnett of Flowood to Joseph Brian Ivey Jr. of Madison is announced today. The wedding will be at 6 p.m. June 26, 2010, at Crawford Street United Methodist Church. A reception will follow at the B’nai B’rith Literary Club.

Miss Burnett is the daughter of Jeffrey Kelly Burnett and Dr. and Mrs. Walter Lee Frazier, all of Vicksburg. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Douglas Burnett and Mr. and Mrs. Richard Franklin Cowart, all of Vicksburg. She is the great-granddaughter of Mrs. William Woodrow Sultan Jr. of Vicksburg.

Mr. Ivey is the son of the Rev. and Mrs. Joseph Brian Ivey of Vicksburg. He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Nix Ivey of Walkersville, Md.; Mr. and Mrs. Richard Marshall Kelly of Jasper, Ala.; and Mr. and Mrs. Roy Lee Thornton of Panama City, Fla.

The bride-elect is a 2005 honor graduate of Warren Central High School, where she was head cheerleader and a member of the National Honor Society, Beta Club, Student Council and Viking Voices. She was a member of the Vicksburg Cotillion Club.

She attended Mississippi State University, where she was a member of the Phi Delta chapter of Chi Omega sorority.

Miss Burnett will graduate in May with a bachelor’s degree in nursing from the University of Mississippi Medical Center.

The prospective groom is a 2003 graduate of Porters Chapel Academy, where he was a member of the National Honor Society, Key Club and basketball, baseball and football teams.

He received a bachelor’s degree in business marketing in 2007 from Mississippi College, where he was a member of the basketball team.

Mr. Ivey is employed at Southern Farm Bureau Life Insurance Company.
