A Vicksburg woman said skeletal remains found a week ago in a wooded area in Pensacola, Fla., have been identified as the body of her missing brother.

Jamie Lewis said she was told by the Escambia County coroner in Pensacola Tuesday afternoon that the remains found on March 28 have been confirmed to be those of Timothy Woodrow Braswell, 53, of Pensacola.

Escambia County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Sgt. Ted Roy said fingerprints were used in the identification, a cause of death had not been determined and that foul play was not suspected.

Lewis said her brother had been reported missing Oct. 19, the day he was taken to West Florida Hospital by ambulance for a headache.

Hospital spokesman Ken-drick Doidge confirmed Braswell was taken to the hospital that day, but “left as soon as he got here” before being treated. Doidge said Braswell told an emergency medical services worker that he was refusing treatment and walked out of the hospital.

Braswell’s remains were found in a wooded area on University Parkway, about a half mile from the hospital.
