Vicksburg residents can now phone a number of police department desks directly, rather than calling one and getting a menu of connection choices.

City IT Specialist Bill Ford said the 601-636-2511 general info number will still be in operation, and callers to the number will still hear a recording with connection options.

The new direct numbers are:

• Administration — 601-801-5304

• Court services/payment and community service — 601-801-5339

• Court services/all other calls — 601-631-3742

• Patrol division — 601-801-5308

• Investigations — 601-636-6393

• Internal affairs — 601-631-2996

• Domestic violence — 601-801-5319

• Booking desk — 601-801-5313

• Child safety seat info — 601-801-5309

• Juvenile — 601-619-7880

• Narcotics — 601-636-0750

• Police and accident reports — 601-801-5351

• Underage drinking education — 601-801-3507

• Underage drinking party buster hotline — 601-636-3507

• General info — 601-801-5300

Emergency calls should be placed to the 911 dispatch center.

The change will cost the city an extra $15 per month, Ford said.
