Helen Irene Smith died Thursday, April 15, 2010, at River Region Medical Center. She was 89.

Born in Vicksburg, Mrs. Smith was retired from the City of Vicksburg. She was a member of Holly Grove M.B. Church and Order of the Eastern Star.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Smith; two brothers, Fred S. Hall and James Hall; one sister, Julia Hall; and her parents, Fred H. and Annie Johnson Hall.

Survivors include two daughters, Delores Smith of Vicksburg and Irence C. Smith of Chicago; one sister, Minnette Wade of Vicksburg; six grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews and cousins.
